Serengeti was designed by Bill Tripp who is known for producing quick and stylish performance minded designs. She is a 60' “Café Racer” as the designer calls it. This aptly describes the dual nature of “Serengeti” as she is equally at home on the race course or cruising in the Caribbean. The feature that enables “Serengeti” to race and cruise equally well is the hydraulically lifting keel. The keel has a range of approximately 5' which gives her the ability go into shallow waters, but then sail to windward with no compromise. In 2007 “Serengeti” won its class in the highly competitive “Marblehead to Halifax” ocean race. She then went on to do family cruising in the Caribbean all winter long.
“Serengeti” was built by the world renowned New Zealand boat builder, Ian Franklin. The construction details, the fit and finish, as well as the beautiful woodwork all are testament to the builder's skills and the attention to details. The interior is built using light maple to keep the entire boat bright and “airy”. The layout is very comfortable with the owner's cabin forward and two very comfortable cabins aft.
“Serengeti” is perfect for the discerning and knowledgeable sailor who enjoys racing and fast comfortable cruising. She is a joy to sail and will get you to your destination quickly and in style.
