Chet’s Bio
Chet Hartshorn came to Little Harbor with an ocean of experience. His interest with the sea and vessels led him to Massachusetts Maritime Academy for his college years. Upon graduation in 1961, he went to sea as a deck officer in the Merchant Marine and early on acquired a sense and appreciation for vessels and the sea unique to most of us in yachting.
Chet, a Certified Professional Yacht Broker, is Little Harbor’s senior broker. He began his brokerage career in 1969 when he became the first broker hired by Luke Brown, founder of Luke Brown and Associates in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Chet made quite a name for himself during his Ft. Lauderdale years selling numerous large motoryachts, but his specialty was always sailing yachts.
In 1983, Chet came back to New England and joined Little Harbor Yacht Sales in Marblehead, Massachusetts. Belonging to a team that included Ted Hood was especially exciting, and once again Chet was right at home selling the famous Little Harbor line of sailing yachts. Ever since, Chet has been a valued player for our team of brokers as well as a valued friend for all those he works with here at Little Harbor, now a division of The Hinckley Company, and perhaps more important for those he has worked for; namely our clients.
For Chet, the yacht business is an extension of his love for sailing, the sea, the waterfront and boats in general. This love affair and his unique “people” personality overcome his dislike for the modern day “interruptions” such as computers and voice mail. When not assisting people in their yachting needs, Chet and his wife Linda spend their free time sailing.
